Finalists announced of the 42nd Annual Thomas A. Simone Awards

We’ve narrowed the votes down and here are the finalists for each award. The finalists for each award are listed below and will be recognized this week on KSHB41 news throughout the week. Stay tuned for details on the award ceremony on December 11th, 2024 where the winners of each award will be announced. We are so proud of each of these athletes.

 

Thomas A. Simone Award

Established in 1983, this award is presented to the most outstanding high school football player in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. 

The finalists are: 

Tate Nagy, QB- Senior, Blue Valley West
Isaiah Mozee, WR- Senior, Lee's Summit North
Rocco Marriott, QB- Junior, Platte County
Jaxon Hicks, RB- Senior, Liberty
Banks Bowen, QB- Senior, Lawrence

 

Frank Fontana Award

This award is presented to the most outstanding high school football player in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area small schools. 

The finalists are:

Carter Temple, QB- Sophomore, Kearney
Kobe Westphal, QB- Senior, Warrensburg
Jordan Haley, QB- Senior, Braymer
Marco Rodriguez, QB- Senior, Bishop Miege

 

Buck Buchanan Award

This award honors the best linebacker, defensive, or offensive lineman in Missouri football classes 5-6. 

The finalists are:

Jayden Woods, LB/DE- Senior, Mill Valley
Anthony Thompson, LB- Senior, Fort Osage
Dawson Merrit, LB- Senior, Blue Valley
Andrew Babalola, OL- Senior, Blue Valley Northwest

 

Bobby Bell Award

This award is given annually to the best class 1-4 offensive lineman/defensive lineman/linebacker.

The finalists are: 
Ashton Moore, LB- Senior, Louisburg 
Bo Smith, OL/DL- Senior, Chillicothe
Finn Cusick, DE- Senior, Bishop Miege
Theo Grace, LB- Senior, Kearney

 

Otis Taylor Award

This is an award given to the top wide receiver or tight end in the Kansas City area. 

The finalists are:
Larry Porter, WR- Senior, Raytown
Karsten Fiene, WR- Junior, Lee's Summit
Isaiah Mozee, WR- Senior, Lee's Summit North
Quin Myers, WR- Senior, Blue Valley West
