Announcing the Top 10 Semifinalists of the 2024 Thomas A. Simone Awards

Kansas City area high school football season has wrapped up for some, while others are embarking on their final games to secure that state championship title. As with every year, there are incredible athletes on both sides of the state line- Kansas and Missouri, rising to the top of the stat charts. Hundreds were nominated but the votes are in and we're excited to release the 2024 top 10 semifinalists for the 42nd Annual Simone Awards. 

 

Thomas A. Simone Award-

Established in 1983, this award is presented to the most outstanding high school football player in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The semifinalists are: 


  1. Zane Thomas (QB- Park Hill)

  2. Jaxon Hicks (RB- Liberty)

  3. Larry Porter (WR- Raytown)

  4. Rocco Marriot (QB- Platte County)

  5. Jayden Woods (DE/LB- Mill Valley)

  6. Bravin Powell (QB- Gardner-Edgerton)

  7. Reggie Reece (RB- Mill Valley)

  8. Tate Nagy (QB- Blue Valley West)

  9. Banks Bowen (QB- Lawrence)

  10. Isaiah Mozee (WR- Lee's Summit North)

 

Frank Fontana Award-

This award is presented to the most outstanding high school football player in small schools of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The semifinalists are:

  1. Grant Noland (WR/DB- Kearney)

  2. Jordan Haley (QB- Braymer)

  3. Josh Stahl (QB- Pembroke Hill)

  4. Brady Roe (FS- Pleasant Hill)

  5. Marco Rodriguez (QB- Bishop Miege)

  6. Myles Vohs (WR- Louisburg)

  7. Jaxon Pollard (RB/DB- Lansing)

  8. Carter Temple (QB- Kearney)

  9. Carson Dixon (QB- Basehor-Linwood)

  10. Kobe Westphal (QB- Warrensburg)

 

Buck Buchanan Award-

This award honors the best linebacker, defensive, or offensive lineman in football from classes 5-6. The semifinalists are:


  1. Dawson Merrit (LB- Blue Valley)

  2. Motie Williams (OL/DL- Liberty North)

  3. Anthony Thompson (LB- Fort Osage)

  4. Ka'Mori Moore (DL- Lee's Summit North)

  5. Trevor Bindel (OL- Liberty)

  6. Jayden Woods (LB/DE- Mill Valley)

  7. Isaiah Hung (LB- Liberty)

  8. Maguire Richman (LB- Blue Valley)

  9. Andrew Babalola (OL- Blue Valley Northwest)

  10. Brock Heath (OL- Blue Valley Northwest)

 

Bobby Bell Award-

This award is given annually to the best offensive lineman/defensive lineman/linebacker from classes 1-4. The semifinalists are: 


  1. Theo Grace (LB- Kearney)

  2. Ashton Moore (LB- Louisburg)

  3. Dane Ferrel (LB/OL- Pleasant Hill)

  4. Finn Cusick (DE- Bishop Miege)

  5. Bo Smith (OL/DL- Chillicothe)

  6. Gage Bowland (LB- Savannah)

  7. Armon Canada (LB- KIPP Legacy)

  8. Landon Noland (LB- Savannah)

  9. Ryan Munsterman (LB- Warrensburg)

  10. Joe Schranz (OL- Kearney)

 

Otis Taylor Award-

This award is given to the top wide receiver or tight end in the Kansas City area. The semifinalists are:

  1. Peyton Hatfield (WR- Lee's Summit)

  2. Karsten Fiene (WR- Lee's Summit)

  3. Sam Niesen (WR- St. James)

  4. Tommy Hutsler (WR- St. Pius X)

  5. Trever Garlington (WR- Blue Valley Northwest)

  6. Tres Baskerville (WR- Platte County)

  7. Quin Myers (WR- Blue Valley West)

  8. Larry Porter (WR- Raytown)

  9. Isaiah Mozee (WR- Lee's Summit North)

  10. Braylon Agee (WR- Park Hill)

 

Congratulations to these elite athletes in the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas area. The final 4 will be announced on KSHB 41 News on December 1st, followed by the winner on December 12th. We look forward to celebrating the success of these stand-out athletes.
